BUSINESS - TUPPERWARE
I have always recognised that the object of business...... is to make money in an honourable manner. I have endevoured to remember ..........that the object of life is to do good.

TUPPERWARE
What is your most important asset or possession at this moment in time ?
We have different priorities at different times in our lives ----but the way I look at it -----and all of you will agree with me ----when I tell you ------that this priority is a constant ---a must.
I am talking about health. When we have health---we can have anything else that we may desire.
It is important that we …first of all…..love ourselves. By gifting ourselves products that will enhance our health is one way of doing things. I deserve to use products that will help me maintain my good health. Now you might well ask me--- what has health got to do with Tupperware ? Actually the reasons are so many that it would take a long time to enumerate them. Today I’ll limit it to a few.
Reason No. 1 – Tupperware is made from virgin plastic – that is a special plastic that is so good – it is considered to be one of the 10 best inventions of the 20th Century.
Reason No.2 - You must all be aware that ……all other plastics are not bio-degradable……but Tupperware is definitely bio-degradable.
Reason No. 3 All the beautiful colours used in Tup products are made from vegetable dyes…….not chemicals.
Some of the seals actually allow the food to breathe . Round seals are liquid and air-tight.
Everything stored in Tupperware lasts longer and remains fresher helping you remain healthy.
Also when you store your food and water in Tup products you can be sure that no dangerous chemicals like lead is coming into contact with your food.
You will be happy to know that the Queen of England, who has access to the world’s best products uses Tupperware.
When it first came out Tupperware being very expensive was passed down from mother to daughter as an heirloom.
Tupperware is never sold in shops…..as it has so many benefits that needs to be explained to a buyer. Today I stand before you …..a really happy customer for the last 14 years.

MISLED BY LEAD ????????

I am quoting below three/four articles that have caught my attention since January this year.

CENTRE ON LEAD POISONING SET UP IN CITY
(lead is a slow killer which affects the itelligence quotient of those who consume it in any form, especially children)

A National Referral Centre for Lead Poisoning in India (NRCLPI) the first of its kind in the country, was launched in Bangalore today.
The Centre jointly set by St.John’s National Academy of Health Sciences (SJNAHS) anf The George Foundation aims to serve as a center for conducting blood tests for lead confirmation and to create awareness among people at the national level. Speaking to Deccan Herald, Dr. Thomas M. George , founder, TGF, said the center in addition to offering referral and confirmatory lead testing service from blood samples received from anywhere in India, would disseminate relevant information on lead poisoning to government authorities, NGOs, clinicians treating lead poisoning cases and other institutions concerned and create awareness among the general public through education, documentation and media communication. Dr. George is also a member of the National Committee for Prevention of Lead Poisioning in India formed by the Ministry of Environment and Forests. He said prior the national lead study conducted under ‘PROJECT LEAD FREE’ IN 1996-99 only isolated cases of lead poisoning were documented and very little was known about the problem in India. The study concluded that over 50% of the CHILDREN BELOW THE AGE OF 12 YEARS IN MAJOR INDIAN CITIES SUFFERED FROM ELEVATED LEVELS OF LEAD ABOVE 10 MCG/Dl.
Dr. Venkatesh, Department of Biochemistry , St. John’s Medical College gave a presentation on the past, present and future of lead, one of the earliest metals used (8,000 years) ago IS EVIDENT FROM THE FACT THAT IT WIPED OUT THE ROMAN RACE.
THE ROMANS USED TO DRINK WINE IN LEAD CONTAINERS. HE SOUGHT TO SUBSTANTIAL HIS CLAIM that lead was a slow killer which affected the intelligence quotient of those who consume it in any form, especially children. Dr. Venkatesh further said that it was realized only recently that lead based ill-effects from industrialization ranging from headaches, blood pressure, weakness, disturbed congnitive function were epidemic in nature.

Lead poisoning should be treated as a general health hazard, going by the alarming proportions the pollutant was assuming day by day. Such an increasing hazard should be addressed on a war-footing basis.

DECCAN HERALD dated 12th October 2008
Children under the age of six are more vulnerable to lead poisoning as developing children are sensitive to even small amounts of lead which reduces learning ability, causes brain damage, hyperactive behaviour, neurological problems, attention deficit disorders, major organ failure or even death. School children and especially infants , occupationally exposed workers are more susceptible to the effects of absorbed lead.

CHILDREN EXPOSED TO LEAD AT RISK OF ALZHEIMER’S
==================================
Children’s exposure to lead could lead to Alzheimer’s later in life, according to a study. Researchers in the US have carried out the study and found that lead has toxic side effects, associated with degenerative conditions of the brain….which can appear decades after children are exposed.
We are not saying that lead exposure causes Alzheimer’s disease, but it’s a risk factor, lead researchers of the University of Rhode Island in Kingston was quoted by the New Scientist as saying. The researchers came to the conclusion after analyzing the effects of the heavy metal on a group of baby monkeys. They fed the animals infant formula milk with low levels of lead and then followed their progress until the age of 23.
While the adult monkeys did not reveal symptoms of Alzheimer’s per se, post mortem analyses of their brains showed that the lead fed monkeys had plaques and abnormalities identical to those found in brains of people with Alzheimer’s. What’s more, comparative analysis of RNA in their brains showed 3 key genes linked with Alzheimer’s disease were 50 to 100 % more active in lead-fed monkeys than those who were given normal food.

LEAD INCREASES AGING IN OLDER BRAINS : STUDIES
=================================
Could it be that the “natural” mental decline that afflicts many older people is related to how much lead they absorbed decades before ?
That’s the provocative idea emerging from some recent studies…part of a broader area of new research that suggests that some pollutants can cause harm that shows up only years after someone is exposed. The new work suggests that long-ago-lead-exposure can make an aging person’s brain work as if it’s 5 years older than it really is. If that is verified by more research …..it means that sharp cuts in environmental lead levels more than 20 years ago didn’t stop its widespread effect. We’re trying to offer a caution that a portion of what has been called “normal aging” might in fact be due to ubiquitous environmental exposures like lead, says a leader in the study of lead’s delayed effect at John Hopkin’s University. The fact that it’s happening with lead is the first proof of principle that’s its possible. Other pollutants like mercury and pesticides may do the same thing.

LEAD AFFECTING CHILDREN (23-3-2008)
=========================
The presence of lead in water was harming the IQ of children in a big way and immediate steps must be taken to control this, says Secretary General of the Quality Control of India.
Speaking to reporters he said “THOSE IN THE 0-7 AGE GROUP ARE SEVERLY AFFECTED FOLLOWED BY THOSE IN THE 7-14 AGE GROUP. The permissible limit of lead in water was below 15 micrograms per litre in developed nations presently…..while India was still clinging to the 1976 standards and permitted 50 micrograms per litre, and, even this not regulated properly and water samples taken from many parts in Karnataka and other states revealed 150 to 200 micrograms in a litre.
The presence of a toxic substance like lead in oil paints and batteries were very harmful to children……………..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“ The human body needs a diet enriched with many ingredients that sound less like food. We must have iron, copper, chromium, cobalt and zinc, etc, for the proper functioning of our body. But when it comes to LEAD, THE UNIVERSAL MINIMUM DAILY REQUIREMENT IS ZERO.”
And for humans, especially infants and young children con-
sumption of even moderate amounts of lead can have serious consequences. Developing brains seem to be extremely sensitive to the effects of the metal, which is why many scientists were DISTRAUGHT by the latest news of lead paints being used on children’s toys.
I’m not normally a rabble rouser, but I’m disturbed by the potential enormity of this problem said Mr. J.R.Knowles, professor of chemistry and biochemistry at Harvard.
We’re talking about an entire generation of children being exposed to constraints on their neurological development.
The above are quotes from the Deccan Herald dated 16th October 2007. The article is an in depth one. I have only quoted a few lines to highlight the fact of lead poisoning.
*********************
We in India are exposed to even more lead because we insist on storing our food in cheap or expensive branded plastic boxes and give our children plastic bottles to carry water. Lead leaching into food and water that is stored in regular plastic does cause lead poisoning.
You should be aware that that all plastic is made by using Lead, even when it is labeled food grade.
THE ONLY LEAD FREE PLASTIC IS TUPPERWARE.
It is important for you to know that ……just so that you do not think that Tupperware is just an expensive plastic.
It is expensive : BECAUSE IT IS : LEAD FREE, IT IS VIRGIN PLASTIC, USES VEGETABLE DYES SO THAT IT IS NON-TOXIC, IS BIO-DEGRADABLE, IT IS AIR-TIGHT, THE INSIDES OF TUP CONTAINERS ARE SMOOTH WHICH DO NOT ALLOW CREEPY CRAWLIES TO BREED.
Another important factor is that “microwave Tupperware containers” are truly microwave safe and do not release ‘DIOXINS’ AS NORMAL PLASTIC WOULD WHEN USED IN A MICROWAVE.
Even storing food in stainless steel is full of drawbacks.
Knowledge is power, power to change that which you can for your own benefit.
